Brooklyn Teachers! See announcement from CSTA around opportunities for professional development this summer:
Have plans this summer? Computer Science PD Providers are partnering with DonorsChoose.org and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) to bring you Computer Science Professional Development Programs this June-August 2017.
Learn to teach beginner or advanced CS courses at your school. Tackle one of the NEW AP CS Principles courses: Beauty and Joy of Computing, Mobile CSP, or U Teach CS Principles. Try out the more introductory Exploring Computer Science course with Code/Interactive or work on gaming modules you can add to an Algebra class with Bootstrap. These PD programs—all developed wit
h support from the National Science Foundation—will strengthen your expertise and skills in CS, including computational thinking and problem solving, coding, data analytics, robotics, mobile, a wide range of applications, societal and ethical considerations, and much more!
Submit a DonorsChoose.org project today to cover your participation! It’s easy! Costs of the programs varies by provider and can include both tuition and a stipend. The expectation is that many of these projects will be funded by school communities with regional or national, corporate or foundation support. In last year’s pilot nearly all projects were fully funded. Again this year, has Infosys Foundation USA generously agreed to match dollar for dollar money raised by the first group projects, bringing you this terrific PD experience for just half the program’s usual cost. DonorsChoose.org and CSTA will help you navigate the whole process from beginning to end until you complete your preferred PD program, receive your stipend, and earn your electronic badge certificate of completion.
